East Slope Back Country Horsemen

With members from all over the "East Slopes" of the Majestic Rocky Mountains

"2008 Marks Our 30th Anniversary"

Founded in 1978 at Valier, Montana the "East Slope Back Country Horsemen". Is a nonprofit volunteer organization with a three fold

purpose; service to the back country, education of horsemen, and representation in land use planning and management. We are very

active in working with the U.S. Forest Service building bridges, corrals, clearing trails and taking care of a multitude of other needed

maintenance items within the Lewis and Clark National Forest, including the Bob Marshall Wilderness and the Scapegoat Wilderness

areas. These wilderness areas along with the Great Bear Wilderness form the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. We also help

maintain the Pondera County Public Park and National Forest Trailhead at Swift Dam, eighteen miles west of Dupuyer, Montana.
