Flathead Back Country Horseman Info Sheet

June 14th:  Glacier Park Project (West Glacier)
bulletAccess: Take Hwy 2 East from Kalispell apx. 30 miles till you reach West Glacier.
bulletFacilities: Parking at Trailheads.

·        Trails: Members will be divided into two groups with some members leaving from the Lake McDonald corrals at the head of Lake McDonald. Clearing over the West Lakes Trail, junctioning into the other group on the Rogers Lake Trail. This trail is probably 3.5 miles to the junction and a more strenuous climb. The other group will be cleaning though the Christensen Meadows to Rogers Lake. This trail is accessed from the Inside North Fork road, about 7 miles from the Fish Creek Campground. This trail was damaged by the fires of 2001, and required heavy chainsaw use last fall. And we are assuming will require about the same this year. The trail into Rogers Lake is moderate in difficulty with some elevation change, and probably 5 miles, to the junction of the West Lakes Trail.

·        Description:  More detailed directions to follow.

·        Please note: You will need to call Diane Johnson prior to coming so the groups can coordinate trailers and divide the groups. It should be a fun day to spend in the Park. Hope to see you there. ALSO, NO DOGS are allowed inside the Park. Thank you.
