2013 State Convention
"Where it all began"

The Flathead Back Country Horsemen will be the host of the 2013 state convention to be held in Kalispell.

It will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the beginning of  the Back Country Horsemen organization.

There are numerous committees that need help in making arrangements, please contact the Chairman: Andy Breland to volunteer and help make this the best.
Our Purpose is to perpetuate enjoyable common sense use of horses in the back country; assist government agencies in maintenance and management of the resource; and educate, encourage and solicit active public participation in wise and sustaining use of horses and use by people commensurate with our heritage and the back country resource.
We do this through our Projects by donating packing support, clearing trails, and providing other resources to partners (Forest Service, BMWF, MCC, Fish&Wildlife, Forestry Expo) who are actively maintaining Wilderness Resources in the Bob Marshall, Great Bear, Scapegoat and Mission Mountain Wilderness areas.  See our 2011 Calendar for a list of all our projects, events and meetings.

Our Members are Trained  in defensive horsemanship, horse and mule packing, first aid, Leave No Trace and trail etiquette to provide them the tools to enable them to donate their time and labor to accomplish the Projects.

Newsletters are published quarterly to keep our members informed of happenings and results of projects, see our Photo Page to view snapshots of what we do.
