Our
annual Safety Clinic was held on May 14th @ Circle L Arena. The wind blew in 50
+/- attendees (1/2 were BCH members). Two members even came from Clinton to get
their certification. The list of BCH members that attended will be sent to the
USFS to comply with their trail clearing crew requirements. Good information was
shared, some horses learned some lessons, lots of questions were asked and
answered. AND we finished early and everyone was on their way home by 3:30pm.
I want to thank our presenters (Shane, Joe, Clark, Henry) and all of the club
members that helped me with the work. Hopefully, there will be some safer trail
riders and horses on the trails once the snow melts and the mud dries up because
of our efforts.
Also, BIG THANKS to Dr. Gordon Hardaway (Hardaway Veterinary Hospital), Nye
Howie (brand inspec-tor) and Michelle Passmore (county extension agent) for
giving up parts of their Saturday to inform us about Trail First Aid for the
Horse, the laws concerning brand inspections and weed control issues. (Pictures
